“Touch comes before sight, before speech. It is the first language, and the last and it always tells the truth.” - Margaret Atwood
Thai massage is an ancient Eastern healing technique, an informed method used to treat and unblock restricted energy in the body and mind. Traditionally practised in Buddhist monasteries, it is the physical practise of loving kindness - Metta Bhavana. Highly regarded as a spiritual practise, a meditation in movement, it facilitates deep healing through the art of touch. The therapist moves, holds and creates space in the body, by massaging specific energy - sen lines and acupressure points. This facilitates an opening that taps into and uncovers our own inner healing potential.
Thai Massage promotes general health and wellbeing while activating the free flow of energy in the body. With regular sessions massage improves circulation, digestion, breathing capacity, body posture, flexibility, while also releasing long held tensions. As a therapeutic practise it can assist the healing of many emotional and physical issues, lower back pain, headaches, digestive problems, stress, insomnia, nervous imbalances and much more.
The practice works through the bodies many different layers, known as Koshas, it supports release on deep emotional, energetic and physical layers. While the techniques are widely practised, I combine my unique experience and knowledge of the body/mind relationship to intuitively work with each individual, serving their specific needs.
What to expect
Thai Massage is given on a soft floor mat. I recommend you wear something easy and comfortable that allows space for free movement. The application of rhythmic pressure, simple yogic stretches, gentle joint manipulation and massage of the sen lines allows major blocks to be released, this creates an energetic shift, liberates the flow of Prana, and restores the body and mind to a more natural and balanced state.
